Fragments of the Future – Call for Artists

“Fragments of the Future”

La Pigna Gallery – Palazzo Maffei Marescotti– via della Pigna 13 – Rome

from 23 to 30 of October 2025 During Rome Art Week 2025

THE LOCATION

The Gallery La Pigna, artistic and cultural center, is located in the Palazzo Maffei Marescotti, venue of the Vicary, close to the Pantheon.

The prestigious Gallery was born because of the will of Pope Paolo VI, who in 1966 decided for it to be the venue of the UCAI (Unione Artisti Cattolici), association which was born by his will in 1945, so that the artists could testify through their art the post-bellum Italian rebirth.

The Palazzo Maffei Marescotti was ideated in 1580 by Giacomo Della Porta, commissioned by Cardinal Marcantonio Maffei after whose death, in 1583, was followed by a series of changes in ownership and uses – its only constanst being the ownership of the Vatican.

Still incomplete, it was bought, in 1591, by the powerful sister of Sisto V, Camilla Peretti. The ownership then passed on to Clemente Sannesio de Calutiis, marquis of Collelungo, to Cardinal Ludovisio, to Francesco II d’Este , to an Acciaiuoli, reaching the Marescottis in 1764, which kept it until 1865, having it amplified by Ferdinando Fuga.

Here starts the commercial history of the venue. Bought in 1865 by the Banca Romana di Tanlongo, and bought in 1906 directly by the Vatican, which made it a venue for the Roman Vicary, and completing the facade of via dei Cestari in neo-Renaissance style by Antonio Sarti.

THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition is part of the 10th edition of the Rome Art Week.

Rome Art Week is an annual event that aims to create a network between artists, exhibition structures, critics, curators and all figures who work in the art sector, as well as the public. A great opportunity for artists to make their art known to an audience of experts.

Inside the prestigious Gallery La Pigna, the exhibition “Fragments of the Future” proposes to tell, through artworks of highly selected artists, how each artwork, in its conceptual and aesthetic uniqueness, tells a story, and develops through the sensitivity and creative ability of the Artist, offering an alternative dimension, somehow more complete: an intimate and ethereal dimension where emotions dominate.
