The group exhibition “Fragments of the Future” opened on Thursday 23 October at 5:00 p.m. at Galleria La Pigna, Palazzo Maffei Marescotti, Via della Pigna 13, Rome. Curated by art critic Monica Ferrarini, the opening included a musical performance by Siryo Black and soprano Ilde Consales.
At a time marked by instability, loss of meaning and growing disconnection, art remains one of the last gestures of resistance: a space in which salvation can still be sought. An artwork does not offer definitive answers, but traces and fragments of a time that reaches beyond boundaries. Art is not an escape but a foundation; not decoration but a form of salvation.
“Fragments of the Future” invites us to rethink the future as a space of the soul. It arises from the desire to gather and give form to what remains, to what may yet be born and deserves to be preserved. The works share a common thread: they affirm art as a space of spiritual resistance and as a gesture that passes through uncertainty to become memory.
In an age that compulsively consumes images, emotions and feelings, art continues to offer another kind of time: a space in which we may recognise ourselves and perhaps find refuge. Its fragments do not provide solutions; they invite us to slow down, reconnect with our innermost selves, reflect and continue to imagine despite everything.
The exhibition formed part of the tenth Rome Art Week, the annual event that connects artists, exhibition spaces, critics, curators, arts professionals and a broad public of art lovers.
